Granted he changed eventually but not without effort and betrayal that came later. IRL, this couple wouldnt last. At least I myself dont see how I could be living with the guilt of choosing the man who torment, throw you into prison, often time scrutinize you with the price of a mother’s death. Both of them experienced psychological traumas, but it doesnt change the fact that he hated her simply for being a duke’s daughter, not her own misgivings. I understand he was paranoid, but she had done nothing in person to be despised by him. Also let’s be real, he is now nice to her because he found out she is Lillian. BEFORE he finally figured it out, he was still chasing after her because she escaped from prison.
I fully understand why some readers hate him but we must never forget that he did not know. That is why he investigated and investigated until it turn into circles. He himself is already having hallucinations and could not think well. And I can’t blame why Lilian is being like that as well. Since out of all the clues she shown it wouldn’t even reach out to his grasp because of his majesty’s blinded anger towards the Duke and blindingly wouldn’t almost notice of she’s trying to show. They are both suffering and I just hope that they will be getting better for both of their sakes.
