I don’t understand why introduce the conflict of the poisoning if the author is going to provide the solution in the next panel, easily and painlessly. There really is no real conflict anymore. Instead we get obstacles in the form of tiny pebbles that pose no real worry to the overpowered protagonists…
I think the poision conflict was planned in a certain way for the saintess to be there. Maybe also to solve the conflict with herself and her memory regarding her own child.
We will see but I think there is a reason as to why she is there in the plot =)
