I fell off of my chair to the way she reacted, and instead of taking a moment to think about it, she decided to still hurt herself, and this is in no way Raymond’s fault. Further chapters are nothing new, but it’s frustrating that she is allowing herself to get hurt, yes I do know how hard it is to stop loving someone, but it’s not impossible. When they were together, he slept with her once while he was drunk (presumably she was already pregnant by then, if I recall the novel correctly). The main reason why the FL left him was because, once she realized she was pregnant, she didn’t want her child to follow in her dad’s footsteps and suffer/get hurt in the subsequent fight for the throne that would ensue. She also knew the ML didn’t love her and believed he still harbored feelings for his ex (who got sent away to marry, not providing the ML a sense of closure). Of course, now the FL has grown out of her feelings. She doesn’t hate the ML, she just doesn’t want him to stir up old feelings since she wants to keep her son hidden and, therefore, safe. Keep in mind that up to this point, she still believes ML is in a relationship with his ex. And, let’s be honest, once someone hurts you (whether intentionally or not) it’s hard to open your heart to them later on. So it makes sense that this time, it’s the ML who must struggle to earn her favor like she tried to do when they were married.
