She was the only support he had in his life and he settled into a kind of content apathy. He wasn’t dealing with his emotions but he was comfortable and felt safe.
Now that safety is being threatened and his behavior is unacceptable but it’s weird how everyone will sympathize with the Empress who knowingly entered a relationship like this and not the Emperor who was never told that she loved him or what she expected from him.

Tbh, i want the emperor to be the male lead. I want to witness his redemption. Maybe im just a sucker for characters who are broken ever since the beginning then they slowly regret everything they did and as time passes, he’ll somehow fix it. I pity the emperor really. I know he should have done more and better for the FL but he’s incapable of doing so at that time since he is severely broken.
The FL promised that she will always be beside the emperor, so she was taken for granted. I actually admire her coz she’s brave. She still tries to accept him even he’s broken to pieces. I think the FL’s promise is still what keeping him moving regardless being emotionless.
What I like is the fact that he doesn’t hold any feelings for the blond bitch anymore. Also the fact that he’s investigating the kid. And he kept his word that he won’t be taking any concubines.

To be fair..he told her that he was not going to love her nor was he obligated to do so in the beginning..and in the contract, if I am correct, one of the “rules” stated that he wouldn’t be unfaithful of some sort and blah blah blah. People are getting mad at him but he never slept with the girl nor cheated on the MC, the lady actually slept with the dudes brother and got pregnant. She was sent away to marry a king of some sort, but had escaped and “in order to survive” she told the dude that the child was his. He probably denied it in the beginning but he accepted it since ya know, he is the only “royalty” left..and he didn’t think that the child was possibly his brothers because it never crossed his mind..I don’t like how the author or characters in this portray him as the bad dude. Also, I want to note that, she was never neglected UNTIL the whole 2 face girl came in and caused this whole drama..sure- she may have crossed paths with jealous noble girls but that’s common in legit every manhwa/manga. This author only portrayed her side of feeling heartbroken and upset/betrayed ( I mean – yeah – she is the MC ) but only has since shown the ML bad sides if ya know what I mean. That just makes us readers upset and judgmental right off the bat and then later confused and more upset after suddenly making the ML innocent and nice. I don’t really get the feeling that Lizzena covets Raymond at all. It seemed more like she was trying to repair the relationship between Ellie and Ray. Definitely, Ellie’s interpretations of Liz’s words seem flawed – like Ellie’s feelings of loss are making her see everything in a pessimistic light.
I also don’t get the hate for Ray. He’s clearly detached from his emotions, but he was willing to chuck Edmond out if Ellie would stay. This despite the fact that he empathizes deeply with Edmond’s situation and in a very logical way appointing Edmond in as heir is the best decision he could make, given what he knows.
He’s the emperor! He can’t just make choices based on his personal emotions to the possible detriment of the thousands and thousands of citizens of the empire. Compared to his personal relationship, the needs of the citizens should come first, otherwise he’s a despot following his emotions without regard for the people.
All that, and he still made that last attempt to keep Elle close because he felt he needed/wanted her close. So I don’t see Ray as some asshole (on a personal level, as it would be an asshole move for a leader to put his desires above the needs of his people). Seems to me that his love for Ellie – which he clearly doesn’t understand – is strong and true,

Ugh. It’s hard to like (though easy to empathize with) a woman who lacks the basic decency to tell her then husband that she’s pregnant with their child and then runs away like a criminal. In the real world, that would be considered very bad decision making. No matter the circumstances (barring severe abuse) should one spouse decide on their own about divorce and pregnancy without talking to their spouse about the issues like an adult. It’s self-centered to make all the decisions in the marriage without having a thoughtful discussion with your spouse. Seriously, her behavior is not unlike Sovieshu (emperor in Remarried Empress) mixed with a dose of martyr complex, which is fairly common in this genre.
I like this story but if someone behaved like Ellie in the real world, they’d be considered a selfish asshole. Not that this extinguishes my desire to read the story. I don’t have a burning need to like a character to find them interesting. Honestly, a flawed character is far more compelling than a perfect one.

2. I do not get the attraction to Jeremy at all. He’s creepy as fuck. Who has “accidental” encounters with someone, plays mind games when they are introduced, then follows her as she flees the empire? Either a person with a strong need to be a knight in shining armor so much that their behavior becomes inappropriate, or someone with serious stalker tendencies. People who use mind tricks like “I hope you remember me” (vs being more straightforward) and approach their target when they’re emotionally vulnerable tend to have some serious personality disorders like narcissism or straight up psychopathy. But this story is a romance so that behavior is played off as romantic and heroic, not creepy and stalker-y.
3. Seems like Ellie’s timeline mirror’s Lizzena’s. Presumably she’ll encounter Raymond soon, which mirrors the 7-year absence and secret childbirth of Lizzena. Of course, we know that Ellie’s child is the legitimate son of the emperor’s and Lizzena’s…isn’t.

When she lost her first baby, he didn’t try to comfort her. So you could argue he was indeed neglectful and indifferent. It was only after she left that he realized that she brought him a lot of comfort that he wasn’t really conscious off until her absence made it clear. FL never blamed him for his neglect, since when they got together he flat out told her he wouldn’t love her. It’s just that FL grew tired waiting for him to answer her feelings and walked out and moved on. It’s him who can’t do the same. I cannot help but laugh. This whole situation is stupid, and their so called relationship is just garbage. They had a contract before getting married and she knew the conditions before becoming an Empress and his wife. He was not obligated to love her nor stated anything about the so called love. She knew, and yet she loved him…nothing wrong with that except you shouldn’t be literally hating on him simply because he did not show affection or comfort. C’mon, it’s literally ROYALTY- besides, dude suffered with his relatives/and especially father at such a young age…of course he will grow up/age little by little not showing emotion. And she knew that because she basically comforted him at his toughest moments, and the fact that he is cold-which is why this so-called love for her is not love but ache for her. He misses her because she was there for him.. he isn’t a cheater because he never cheated on her. The blonde bitch child isn’t his but his brother’s kid. And it’s not like he can deny it because of the circumstances/situation ( A. His brother is dead, B. He was the only royalty left, and C. Everyone knew that they’ve had a type of relationship as young kids which btw. she only stood up for him when he was getting bullied but he never liked her..people thought so bc she defended him and ofc he should have probably felt somewhat of gratitude is what they thought ) And mc got neglected after that blonde bitch came in, and she already had her emotions tangled up and felt betrayed..and I wouldn’t blame her since she didn’t know the whole situation/scandal that happened but if we gonna only see her pov and pity her, then we should too as well for the ML. not saying its mc fault but she does kinda annoying the fact that a lot of characters are pitying her and be like “oh emperor is an a whole and what not” and she sitting crying or what not and be like ” I know..but its in the past” but proceed to talk about him??

First of all, she had it harder. She suffered more, and besides, no one cares if he was born in Royalty or if he was an illegitimate child, because at the end of the day, he still had status and luxuriuse items and got to live life. Okay, Boo-hoo, his mother died YEAH EXACTLY HIS MOTHER! But our beloved MC suffered from torment by her relatives. She has every right to complain and cry about it because she is a women who was cheated on >:C He is a cheating bastard that didn’t go comfort our queen when she needed him but NO! he went to comfort the blonde mustard color hair bitch- and rlly!? ur going to justify his actions simply because he was getting bullied, big deal, he couldnt have tortured her during wedding time. I genuinely hope you thank me for re-reading this garbage. Unlike other people who decide to be close-minded and not think and actually understand when reading something and just choose random scenarios to create a dull-witted argument, I took a whole fucking time AND took my time to generate a response. First of all your grammar isn’t even right.
She was very pathetic to fall in love with someone who helped her reunite with her father after she foolishly got lost in the woods. . . somehow. Also, the fact that she was annoying before as an adult can tell you how much she has matured. “Oh, dad you are going to the palace? Please take me for the millionth time because the boy I fell in love with after an abbreviated meeting has stayed in my heart since” and will cry about it if she is told no. Unlike your comment “She has suffered more, besides no one cares (which isn’t true lol) if he is royalty and illegitimate, because at the end of the day he status and money” SO you are telling me Elijah didn’t? In Chapter 1 you can see that she has a LOVING father and STATUS and MONEY, and yeah she wasn’t born with a mother, but when she stated that she didn’t, she did not seem affected by it since she has a LOVING father or guardian, MONEY, and STATUS. Also, she eventually becomes an Empress- oops! A Royal!- Use a better argument. She was very pathetic to cry when she saw Raymond or Ray get hurt in the first chapter. Oh, you broke your leg, look how much it’s affecting me!!! Boohoo!! And the fact that he had to comfort her is laughable. Oh btw, this whole paragraph is me referring to the whole first chapter.
To be honest, Raymond was showing respect towards her behavior and attitude towards him, and I don’t know about you, but that’s called basic decorum- or polite, normal behavior! When Ray expressed that he had feelings for another girl, that’s because he trusted her, he felt comfort because he didn’t have that in the first place. That’s the only credit ima give her. I fell off of my chair to the way she reacted, and instead of taking a moment to think about it, she decided to still hurt herself, and this is in no way Raymond’s fault. She encouraged that behavior. And yeah great comment reaction- really. Further chapters are nothing new, but it’s frustrating that she is allowing herself to get hurt, yes I do know how hard it is to stop loving someone, but it’s not impossible. She was naive to continue those thoughts and shameful to think after the love of his life got married away, she would have a small chance to bring him back or whatever she calls it. You can’t force someone to love you, no matter how much care and love you give. The same goes for no matter how good or kind you are, not everyone in the world is going to like you.
Raymond’s mom eventually gets beheade
