To start with I was pretty annoyed with the emperor since I knew it would come down to everyone claiming Richt abandoned the empress (which I would like to point out that Peony wouldn’t have survived if no one went for her when Richt did), I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the emperor did join the efforts to save her. Now for those imperial guards, as someone in charge of another land after being banished, I don’t see why he should care about the imperial family. He would’ve gladly stayed there with Peony had he not been summoned so I don’t see why the guard thinks this is an insult. He may have like Hestia at one point but at this point the person he really cares for is Peony and had those guards been competent from the start none of this would’ve happened so as far as I’m concerned fuck the imperial family.
I can understand how they would he upset with his hypocrisy but also fuck them. Peony is important too and y’all apparently would have preferred she just die instead of saving them both.
