The passage of time in this story is too weird. Days just go by with nothing happening despite how urgent everything seems. Did the princess really leave Eleanor there for 2 weeks without checking up on her even once? I guess she wanted to forget about her, but I would have expected her to want to at least gloat a bit every so often.
