I don’t like it when the reincarnator accusses their enemy of “being stupid” because they can now see through them. He had already achieved all his goals in the previous life, so clearly he was smart enough.
In order to turn things around, she had to come back in time, and also have him reveal the details of his plans to her before executing her. For example, if he hadn’t confessed about Alexis’ murder, she wouldn’t have had any way of saving him. She wouldn’t have even known his death was planned. Even knowing he would die in the war, there was nothing she could have done.
I did like the trick she used here to uncover the spy, but again, she can only pull it off because she knew there was a spy. She never suspected it before. Reinard’s only flaw was not expecting his victim to come back from the future with an entirely new outlook on life and knowing all the details of his plans. I think he can be excused for that, and not called stupid.
