She’s been beaten down to such a degree by her brother that her reality has literally been distorted. Logic says her husband is on her side no matter what but the alternative is that he’s not and that he’ll turn to abandon her the moment things get tricky.
Consider her past relationships for gods sake and how those turned out.
She doesn’t want to give him absolutely ANY reason to leave her to fend for herself. Even if he says he will stay by her side— people can SAY anything they want. Doesn’t make it true. As the audience we know he’s on her side, we know he’ll defend her, we know, we know, we know. —Rubi doesn’t—. I’m sure some small part of her does know, but the FEAR that he won’t stay is much greater. It’s all a mind game set up by her abusive brother.
I think I read a novel spoiler and I think it said that Ruby physically can’t say anything about the abuse, she’s also dealing with insane trauma, and even if she told someone they wouldn’t believe her, much less prove it. so of course she wouldn’t say anything.
