me too. from what we’ve seen it looks like there are 3 villains here with the potential of becoming the final evil: the emperor, the saintess+the temple and the rat, but we are given different characterisations of them between the 2 worlds
the saintess alongside gabriel and the temple are initially portrayed as religious zealots seeing demons in every shadow, convinced that aria is an evil entity bringing the empire to ruin. while this is exactly what happened to gabriel, the saintess was revealed to be much more cunning and intentially disingenuous. she is manipulating gabriel and the temple to get her own way, actually the very act of draining other priests of blood to fuel her own power is inherently demonic, and could be interpreted as the (most likely fake)saintess consuming the temple from the inside then using it’s empty husk as a trojan horse (personally I believe she will be the final villain)
the emperor is aria’s greatest evil in the last life. he is portrayed as a possessive and hedonistic man that went mad due to the siren’s song and ultimately let the country crumble and be taken over by the temple because of it. after her father, he is aria’s main abuser. he is not exactly inconsistent on his own but we see a different side of him from the one aria mentioned. from the entire picture we can deduce that although he is not hopelessly stupid and can go through with his motivations, he has a fragile mind, prone to manipulation, either by the siren or someone else
the rat was the variable aria was not ready for. she was throughly intertwined with the emperor and the temple, but the rat works much more subtly, so while she took precautions against the first 2 (marrying lloyd to keep her father from exploting her and ending up in the emperor’s clutches and getting closer to gabriel to take away the saintess’ most loyal soldier), the only thing she knew about the rat and the part of the kingdom he activates in was from the news of vincent’s passing, so she was never prepared to face him. of course, this is not the first time he targetted her, it is confired that the assassin that tried to kill her before the timeskip was also sent by the rat and we saw just 2 chapters ago that he is still targetting aria. most importantly we were told that the assassin specializes in creating chimeras and has a method for immortality, not only that, we are shown that the rat intends to use this method. this si probably how he is doing the trick with the zombie servants. whatever lloyd kills are probably just chimeras or fuel for the rat, which he is possessing or manipulating through magic
the most important question is how come the 2 work together, 2 such different people. aria claims that they haven’t even met each other in her last life, but she could very well be wrong and not know the full story, we have to remember that she lived in figurative and phisycal cages all her life, she didn’t see a whole lot of the world
The biggest villain is the Saintess, who plans to take over the temple in García. García’s Temple is behind the Rats. Hans is one of the most talented Rats who is now under García’s temple’s control. He’s also the one experimenting on orphan kids (which are supposedly being taken care of by the temple) to produce chimeras (which had attacked valentine twice before).
The Emperor, meanwhile, is really a puppet of García’s temple (so a minion, if you will). In Aria’s past life García ended up toppling the Emperor by making him crazy and blaming that craziness on the Siren’s power. So the Emperor is really a pawn.
That’s why the Emperor looks so sickly despite the fact that this time, he didn’t get his hands on the Siren. Which shows that Aria’s singing was never the cause of the mental decline of the nobility who were obsessed and “addicted” to her during her past life.
Long story short. (From both two essays combined) our 3 main villainess from this manhwa are the saintess, emperor, and the rat. The saintess uses some sort of dark magic. The emperors Is just powerless and has no magic just pawns and might be the first to die, the rat seems like a magician maybe of a dark tower?. What you should get from this is that their bad people and evil. Aria was prepared for the saintess and the emperor but had no information on the rat and is basically or will probably be at loss if she wants to try anything against him (pretty sure it’s a he) second article summarized “ The biggest villain is the Saintess, who plans to take over the temple in García. García’s Temple is behind the Rats.
