That felt like a real conversation that real people would possibly have. Was pretty refreshing. I don’t know how to describe it, but this was done so much better than any other manhwa or manga has with conversations like this.

^ same I love how deep and nuanced the characters are. The dialog isn’t wasted space.
In every other manhwa an abusive parent is so mustache twirling evil that they’re so comically the villain that must be defeated.
Whereas the abusers in this story gave good qualities that have it so much more painful to swallow.
Johanns was an excellent father and great husband to his first wife as far as we know. But he undeniably traumatized Shuli as a child. The nature of their relationship in general was inappropriate and the pressure he placed on her to behave as an adult left long term damage.
Nora’s dad is disgusting to out baby boi. But he was also one of Shulis only commrads in the beginning and backing her up in society after everyone wanted her thrown out. Our first impression of him was a life saver, but now we know what a dick he is to his son.

^^I agree with both of you. The conversation Jeremy and Nora had really had its weight and is much more in-depth with its connotations than just a simple “oh I was beat up by my dad” or “ohh she was abused” and that’s very refreshing to read even if heavy.
Even the boys holding such a deep conversation together without barriers or shame is really endearing to see, usually we don’t get to see much of that happen between the characters in other manhwas.
