crazy how when she genuinely tried to open up about her struggles to him, he got angry and accused her of trying to manipulate him with threats of her death while simultaneously telling her how she’d Never truly suffered in comparison to his life. now that he’s Actually using threats of death to manipulate her, it’s supposed to be seen as romantic and not blatantly hypocritical and disgusting.
Okay. So. At least he is self aware and knows how much he fucked up. But i still don’t think he’s getting any character development.

I personally disagree with a lot of the comments I see regarding them. Does no one want to take into account that Winter was never taught how to love? Not to mention after being treated horribly as a child and abandoned by his mother he finally found his father only for his father and his wife to take advantage of him and cause him to assume that the only way to love someone was to give them money? Of course he is going to be harsh when his own parents didn’t truly love or show him affection so he never thought to give it to her. He was raised with the assumption that those around him would only love him if he gave them gifts. So that’s why he worked so hard to make sure that she could live the life she lived when she was a princess and believed that if he gave her all the money, made up for paying off the debt, and all these gifts that she would love him. As for getting upset about the dresses she wore, are we forgetting that his parents literally interceded by saying she didn’t want the gifts? And let’s not forget when they said that it must be because she is a princess so she doesn’t want things from a lowly person like him. Was it right for him to believe it? No. But it’s also part of the reason why he not only worked harder, but also began to avoid her because he believed she thought he was dirty in a sense.
Also let’s not pretend like anyone else wouldn’t have reacted the way he did when she said she was pregnant, yes he didn’t tell her and she didn’t know he couldn’t have kids with her, but he also withheld that information in hopes that one day he could find a way around it only for it to be dropped a week later that she’s somehow pregnant. Yes, I would be upset too, yes he did say some horrible things, but we all do that when we feel betrayed and distraught. He was literally overloaded with information that shouldn’t have been possible and was also dealing with the potential that she was in fact actually with another man yet didn’t blame her at all for it either, in fact he said he couldn’t blame her for the way he treated her the last three years. But no one wants to remember that.
How about when he did clear the misunderstanding and beat the hell out of the man who caused it and confronted his ‘mother’ and cut her off? No one wants to remember that. He was literally just beginning to learn true love and not the messed up manipulation that his parents taught him but no one wants to remember that.
How about when he was dropping everything just so she could live where she wanted? What about when she found out she wasn’t pregnant and he tried to be there the only way he knew how? Again, he was taught affection so he gave her gifts and made sure to get updated on how she was doing, gave her time to grieve.
Are we also going to pretend that it’s ok that instead of giving him time to process the fact that she just committed suicide in front of him and then left? Does she have a right to be upset? Yes, but let’s not ignore how absolutely traumatizing that is for him and the fact he had nightmares every time he went to sleep. Let’s also not ignore the fact that while he wanted and needed her in his life, he was also willing to take a step away and let her live freely without any attempts to contact her or even show up at her house when he knew exactly where she was.
Everyone wants to think he hasn’t changed but he is attempting to fix his marriage one last time, just one. He is learning that even though he was told that the only way a person can love him is by him giving them things and having money that is not true love, he is learning that true love is showing a person how much you care and how you want to be there for them.
Y’all are so hypocritical because he was just as abused as her and had no clue that this type of treatment isn’t normal.
@MaeGreene I created an account just to say that I love your way of treating the characters in a comic like real humans, and I agree with you. I’m the type of person that thinks that there’s room for change even after making many mistakes many times 🙂
This girl in @punk flowers or what, like clearly hated the ML to the core, clearly didn’t understand what CHILD TRAUMA works, as u can see experience a wrecking mental STATE AFTER the mistreatments from people around her, she is innocent & an angel, who is un aware how evilness reek in the society, so it drives her almost insane causung her to end her life multiple times.
JUST LIKE HOW WINTER BECAME SOMEONE WHO THINK HE ONLY EXIST FOR MONEY, he learned the HARSH WORLD AT YOUNG AGE, also betrayed from her mother, abused by people in the slumps, was accepted by evil blooming household for his sole purpose MONEY!
He was never thought of being a proper gentleman nor proper etiquette, even horse backriding which is the basics wasn’t given to him, his sole purpose in living is to keep working his butt off to provide luxury to people who accepted him, HE WAS MOLD INTO THAT,
The difference between them is that winter had those shitty experience when he was still an innocent child, whilr violet is when she had a married life, not to mention they are POLAR OPPOSITES OF EACH OTHER, different background, different situations, different experience, different personality & different mindset also perception.
The author making it more like its his fault so we can see redemption arc .. He can’t have a kid and she said she have one … Not need to do a math. As I said in first chapters the characters really good and the initial idea was good the storyline sucks ..
