I’ve always liked her friendship with Ruth, though he shouldn’t have been so blunt about Riftan and the Princess’ chemistry. The good thing is that the Princess later turns out to be a great supporter of the FL, who encourages her to pursue dreams outside of just living up to other’s expectations.

He wouldn’t be Ruth uess he was blunt. Ruth doesn’t sugarcoat or beat around the bush.
I like the relationship Maxi and Ruth have. He is one of the people who encourages her (sometimes is REALLY PUSHY) and he always supports her.
I can understand where the knight is coming from. In his view point they were made to suffer a dangerous campaign simply because Maxi’s father did not want to send himself or his own people to handle the dragon. It is highly insulting to his pride that such underhanded methods were used to force their hands.
He has yet to learn of Maxi’s own mistreatment. He will slowly accept her. I am looking forward to the future chapters coming to life. I can’t wait to see the stuff that the novel holds come up.

@Fortune Kookie, oh I agree. I love Ruth’s relationship with Maxi. I think he’s one of the people who pushes her to excel the most. For better or worse, Ruth can be socially awkward and thus his honesty can come across as brutal, but it always comes from a good heart.
Ruth is a good friend and I’m glad someone like him is friends with Maxi. He instantly notices when she’s going on a spiral, doesn’t reject her when she wants to help (usually because he is desperate for help and will take anyone he can get) and instructs her on what to do instead of pushing her good intentions aside, and he also praises her a lot when she is being self-deprecating which is good for her confidence. And we all know that Ruth doesn’t like to give empty praises so his words are always genuine.
