Ok that was a really dumb plot convenience… I honestly expected more from this author where a lot of previous events were cleverly thought out. Her sudden suicide makes so many of the previous chapters trying to find here feel like a big waste of time.
it was a bit cheap, but this story is also a gritty, mature story therefore her death is a driving force in Cayena’s later development (as she would be “truly” alone in the people that loved her since the beginning are all gone). this simultaneously makes her and Raphael drift closer. you guys need to remember that the royal palace is cruel and Ms. Elivan’s presence there after being exiled wouldn’t have put her in a fairer position because Cayena is STILL a woman in a patriarchy and neither her nor Rezef are loved by the emperor completely. Ms. Elivan would’ve died a worse death in the palace. Cayena will thereby become more ruthless and more driven. so yes, cheap by the rushed/forced storytelling, but necessary
