Dont be stupid now- as a someone who absolutely calls people out for being sensitive or outright wrong- you are either justifying the author or the character itself. It is. From afar you could see the color shades are different and darker skin tone is made to seem ugly- which a fair skin girly myself, I think its NOT. The fact that your even have to justify it is crazy, welp: The different shades are not black or white, specifically it’s white and olive tone (tan) so that argument already is stupid. You said it was the norm, but you know what else? Parents forcing daughters to look to outmost best for potential partners, relations and an overall image of the family. Maids would be punished if the only daughter used for something is going out looking like that. Your logic is not logicing.
