As a second child, I get her. Sighh it’s hard to be the middle child. Everyone is expecting you to adjust. Too old to get angry with your younger siblings and too young to be respected and heard like the eldest child. It’s hard to position ourselves. Not to mention our parents ignore us and we’re totally the least favored children. Yeah, we tend to be selfish most of the time. So what? if we don’t get it, no one will get it for us.
It’s just really uncomfortable that Edith is gushing over her brother-in-law. IDK about the author but I don’t think the author has siblings. ANYONE but your sibling’s lovers/fiance it’s too much really. Does anyone have to really explain this?
mm I think her gushing about her brother in law isn’t entirely weird in this circumstance because she was a fan of the Duke (who would be similar to a celebrity) before her sister and him were engaged. likewise she never got to know the Duke as a person so they never forged a more familiar bond. the Duke is still a stranger to her. so as long as she isn’t trying to actively ruin their marriage or take the Duke for herself (as she confirms by saying she never actually wanted him and wants her sister to be happy), I don’t think it’s that weird
