Ya know what? The mother’s pretty dumb. If what she said abt the mistress is true and wanted her daughter to take over the family, this mistress did a pretty good job at convincing the mother that FL isn’t the daughter and would do everything in her power to put the mistress’s daughter into power. The mistress’s daughter would know as she would also carry out her mother’s wishes to get the position. If their aim was to ruin the family, it could’ve been easier with their cooperation together. Obviously the magic would still be FL’s trump card (no, not the president.)
im still at this chapter but i was kinda hoping …… what if the father knew his illegitimate daughter has magic but his real daughter doesn’t, and so he ordered the switching so that the heiress of the duchy would be the long waiting wizard to come from the 4 duchies. doing this would boost the fame and power of their duchy in the process., all 4 women are just victims of the father’s plan.
dang that would have been a nice plot twist, to the “the maid switch her daughter with real one so she could be a noble and etc.”
the fl’s real mom taking care of her not actual daughter genuinely coz she felt bad for the child being abandoned for not having magic despite being the legitimate heir.
The father acting like he doesn’t know and saying that his wife is crazy for thinking the child in their house is not their daughter which is true. but deep down the wife knows she aint.
So she secretly looks for her real daughter which eventually leads to the current events of the story. having been separated from her real child and being called crazy and looked down upon by those in the household leads to her not liking the fl even more.
would love the real daughter to be actually loving and nice. genuinely caring for the fl, as thanks to her mom(the maid) raising her, and wish to return the favor to the maid’s real daughter the fl.
all their misery and conflict, the product of the father’s ambitious plan.
Since they basically look so much alike and I think they’re at the same age, is there a possibility that the mom didn’t know she had twins and the maid/ mistress took one away for maybe revenge or maybe to keep pretenses that she wasn’t really pregnant and say that Hylias or whatever her name is, is the illegitimate daughter ?
