For those of you who plan on reading the book, run away now because: of spoilers.
They skipped all the diabolical stuff, particularly where Elisha is more content with their marriage than in love (because he imprisoned her and “uses” her body until she’s on the verge of self-destruction) until he pathetically concedes. The real story ends with her knocking over chess pieces with spiteful pride for having achieved her true and ultimate goal: getting pregnant with the daughter she lost in her first life. Whether Lucern is happy or not is of no consequence. He’s tame and endlessly apologetic now so she can relax and enjoy his company while she focuses on motherhood. In the epilogue chapters, Lucern is competing with his own kids for Elisha’s attention.
