My personal theory is that the reason it seemed like she was obsessed with him is that she was actively removing anyone who could possibly make a potential heir with him, since not only would she not be punished for this because of her position and power over him, but it keeps the emperor from having any real political stronghold in terms of succession allowing the crown prince to have an easier time to take the throne back if he ever desired to
@Fallengod2014 That makes a lot of sense. Even if you account for Charls “taking the Emperor’s place” with the obsession bit, it wouldn’t make sense for her to go almost 180 personality-wise.
The Emperess is not stupid and she obviously cares about the Empire and the Crown Prince, even if she doesn’t/can’t show it.
