Okay, I ducking hate this. While the parents are bad, what’s even worse that the author acts like corsets were some kind of devil’s work. Corsets were just ol bras, they helped women with breast and back support. They weren’t tied in tightly and all corsets were tailor made to for the individual who wore them. Women from all classes wore them. By that I mean noble women, working women and women who stayed at home with the kids. Whatever you were doing, you needed mobility. Do people really think that working women would have had time for this bs if they couldn’t eat or breathe in them properly?
And just for an extra fun fact, corsets were made for men. Men and women wore them. Oh and another fun fact, makeup and high heels were also made for men!
The reason why the corset industry got demonised was because of men. Women owned the business, there were only women working in them and they were making products for women.
I am so tired of people demonising corsets just because they couldn’t do a small Google research or watch a documentary.
@FLOOF ok as you saying. I agree about some part of your explanation, but you need you read and understand it. The problem is not about corsets but about how FL family want everything to be perfect because they have angel blood flow in them. In another word they would be obsess in keeping everything just the way they expected or just the way the were taught. I mean just look at them duchess dress, the style is old fashion as the other noble are saying. And as you’re saying that corsets are bra in their time, yes you’re right but when you’re young were you wear one ? No one do right ? But FL have to wear one because the duchess want her to be perfect. Also ofc woman from all classes would wear one but a really tight one that would make you uncomfortable and hurt around your waist ? No one would. On top of that, she still a KID, still YOUNG. So the author didn’t make the corsets seems like some devil’s work. Instead, author make FL family look like an old fashion family that want everything seems perfect so they can be beside or having a really good contacts with royal family. In other word, it’s not because author have a poor knowledge about corsets but she making FL family a villain. Also,this story begin with FL family abusing her to where she currently are now..
