She clearly has not listened to him, even less tried to understand what he said. I feel sorry for her but at the same time she s selfish and totally blinded by her past. She never wonder whether Carcel could be an option to be happy. And seeing Carcel demean himself is heartbreaking as we know why he behaved as he did before being married.

To be fair, after all what she’s been through ( ahem like three lives of torture in hell ) I cannot blame her for “all of this” and what do you mean she is selfish and totally blinded by her past. It’s called trauma and I’m sure you wouldn’t go up to a person and tell them to “open your heart and forget about your trauma” simply because the other person opened his heart so although they never been through shit other then getting rejected…. it’s inhuman and someone who lacks empathy. I say we wait for her to heal FOR HERSELF and then maybe she can open her heart a little. Because of her severe trauma, she is only focused into getting a divorce and living peacefully and not Carcel being an option. She’s been married to different men and still couldn’t find happiness so what makes you think that she’ll have a mindset of staying with Carcel? And I’m not saying to shun Carcels feeling but to be honest, I am more focused on the main character who is dealing with many things. You already know ( well all of us readers I suppose ) suffer Depression, PTSD and even Anorexica nervosa ( caused by her mother’s nonstop nagging of her body ) And all I hear from your comment is that she is not trying to open her heart towards a man she only is with to get a divorce ( she planned this as a kid bro ) due to her past shit like bro chill down.

Ines might seem crazy and selfish but multiple lives, including one where she spent is sexually abused until she became riddled with diseases caused by her supposed husband fucks with you. a lot. I’m amazed she’s even able to have physically intimacy with anyone after that. she’s a lot stronger than most would be in her position, but she’s not perfect and that’s more than okay. like you said, she needs to learn to heal by herself before letting herself be happy and tbh, the road there will be wonderful to read
