I think that og Illyana wanted to help Magnus. He’s traumatized by what his brothers did to him so Illyana gave him Rei and manipulated his mind. But, I also think that Illyana hates her life that’s why she deliberately gave books to him and let him escape so that when he took revenge, he would kill the ppl of house glaine that she hate as well as kill her.
