I’m tired of seeing people bash Selena when she acts the way she does bc she literally has every reason to. Imagine growing up with ur loving family with the notion that one day ur going to take over ur family business that you are so proud of, and then one day ur whole family dies before you could get proper education at 17. And then the moment you become 18 ur grandma who also believes you are incompetent bc ur mom didn’t cram business jargon into ur head at a young age marries you off to this older man who came out of nowhere and has you sign all ur business rights to him. Like that business is all she has left from her family and frankly it was her reason to live. What would she do then when everyone believes her to be useless when she wasn’t even given a chance? Not only that but the phone call her husband had that she overheard was scarily accurate to her current situation. What was she supposed to think? You could say he didn’t say her name in that phone call but tbh considering his family background and that no one told her about the contents of his agreement with her grandma I fully understand why she thinks that way. Not to mention that after 4 years of marriage to him she became depressed and mentally ill bc no one was taking her serious even though she’s obviously a very intelligent woman, and then out of nowhere a man comes to sweep her off her feet and give her the feeling of finally being in control. I don’t trust Fredrick and I don’t like her husband for allowing Fredrick to be her emotional support knowing full well about Fredricks intentions. But this whole situation is just screwing Selena over she has no one she can fully trust and she doesn’t even know it. And her husband is going about the situation in the worst way by poking her doubts and acting aggressively even after knowing her mental and physical state. Like even the way he talks about her and thinks about her as if she isn’t a person but a project/product. Like he’s heard her brother talk about her he knows she isn’t stupid he knows her situation but somehow says shit like “ur so interesting” when she finally is able to participate in the business. She really cares about Serenity and he knows but he just like everyone else treats her like a child. I’m not saying that Selena doesn’t have her bad moments or that she’s blameless. But honestly this whole situation is caused by no one considering her when making decisions. If her grandmother talked to her about this when she was going to marry her off to that man, if all three of them sat in a room and wrote up a contract along the lines of “you guys will be married for x amount of years whole Selena takes successor classes so that when she is finally ready to take over the business it won’t be in jeprody like it is now.” This wouldn’t be a problem. If her husband just sat down and was like hey I’m doing this as a favor to ur dead brother, then she wouldn’t have such doubts about him. She literally is able to speculate all these things bc no one tells her anything so her mind runs wild with the little she knows. Anyway I just needed to get that out bc people kept on saying she’s toxic and stuff when she’s literally mentally ill and has been neglected ever since her families death but for some reason yall expect her to magically smile and be cooperative with this man who came out of no where. Talk less of her grandma choosing the business over her granddaughters well being. If the problem was her not knowing anything yall could have gotten her a tutor during the 4 years of her marriage. You just let her feel like she was a failure and that she was just going to rot away as one. Okay I’m done now I don’t even think anyone will read this but if you do lol have a nice day <3

Lol I didn’t think anyone would actually read my rant but thanks I was going crazy wondering if no one had critical thinking skills or if they were just blind. Then I realized people were projecting onto Selena not taking into consideration her situation. So they think she’s annoying. But that’s okay just wanted to put it out there!
I wonder if she ever actually has the willing to sit and listen though, her temper is just wow, super short, and most of her actions are rather impulsive. It’s not entirely the grandma’s fault too that she want whatever wealth it is she built to be secured knowing that she grows older and older by year. Also isn’t that called spoiled if you lavishly living with wealth with only expectations that you’re going to inherit it but not actually making an effort to understand the situation? Idk man
