No because I can totally understand where Serena is coming from. It was literally explained that the people around her put her down for any potential she might have. After being exposed to that for so long, it clearly has great mental effect on her. It convinced herself she couldn’t take matters in her own hands even if she tried. I think if she was given the resources to succeed she would have tried her best and went for it, but she was constantly put down and told that she couldn’t and I think this shows because when she’s finally getting the chance to learn now, she’s trying her best and somewhat excelling.
Also, if I’m being honest I would cheat on her husband too if I was her. She also was literally forced into a marriage—that she didn’t want—and was forced out of her family business because of it. She was never given the resources to succeed in taking on the business, so she had to just watch by and see someone else be in the role she could’ve been in. I understand where her hatred from him comes from. Also, she quite literally had no one, so it makes complete sense that she would cheat on her asshole husband who has neglected her because she gets no love from anyone else. Also, he doesn’t even treat her with respect or show he cares at all, even if he does care. He literally knew about why she fell asleep and that she couldn’t help it, but he still just scrutinized her for it. He even acknowledged how much she read in a short time, in his head, but he would never say it to her face. She’s clearly going through a lot of mental trauma, but he’s just digging his own grave tbh.
