To be fair though, a BUNCH of the asian cultures will refer to any familiar female as “sister” (Onee-san in Japanese, Unnie in Korean, Ak-kah in Tamil/Malayalam, DheeDhee in Hindi, etc, though these are all specifically for older females), so it might just be that the translation was following THAT, and English doesn’t have a similar word for “elder female that I should show respect to”…
