the prince never wanted the throne and believed his sister was more fitting. when it came down to succession, rather than being the sister he admired for being protective, she turned out to be pretty petty and mean about not being acknowledged (called him weak, etc). after giving her the throne, she decided to go to war which is something he doesn’t want. the prince has been passing his illness as a terminal one but its actually because of a poison his nanny(?) had given him and he’s been taking over time. she convinced him that he can use it to see whether his sister has just been using him for power depending on whether she just lets him rot and die, or try to save him
Honestly, this could’ve been avoided if the Queen better explained WHY she wanted to go to war. Sometimes, war is unavoidable. Other times, it is avoidable but the country becomes limited. Did the Queen want to expand for power? I doubt it. I think she did it in order to show her country can no longer be taken advantage of by stronger countries.
