Darn, the skipped over a lot of Phil and the emperor having a heart to heart talk. In the novel, Phil says she doesn’t trust the emperor nor sees him as a father because of what he said to her years ago, to live like she is dead and not bother him. The emperor is shocked and realized that a throw away sentence to him was traumatic and everything to her. He steps back and simply asks her to stay for a few months to get situated rather than be written officially as his daughter, and he hopes to prove himself in the coming months for Phil to be willing to be adopted later.
Honestly, it seemed like elencia was trying to keep philomel in the palace by making her the princess’s maid or lady in waiting. But as someone who was just crown princess until just a couple months ago, being asked to be the next crown princess’s maid is a slap in the face and sending the wrong message.
I knew Elensia was way too passive in the first timeline to be considered a good person. Who tf think it’s appropriate to ask the princess to be their maid?!
