It’s also a mix of the maids gossiping behind the Duchess’ back, even if it isn’t malicious, as the maid shouldn’t have a say on whether it’s good or bad that the Duchess is leaving as it’s the Duchess’ choice, not theirs. But, more so, it’s probably just a very sensitive topic that they are talking about despite knowing that Selphie could be in ear shot, and he’s already emotionally vulnerable and sensitive as it is and doesn’t need other talking about it on top of it.
