It was pointed out by MC before that even if prev Lillian abused the child or wtv she did, the duke didn’t do anything as punishment to her. ^ yes correct! also in one of the last few chapters he wonders to himself if he should pluck out one of his eyes to feel better – its likely in the past, he plucked his eye out before meeting lilian and it mightve worked for a little bit, but the insanity must’ve made him hollow. lilian in the past must’ve alleviated his symptoms but they seemed to rarely be near each other/touch, which might be why he stayed pretty taciturn

The OG Lillian didn’t have a magic illness. Either that or it was never mentioned in the “book”.
I’m always skeptical of the MC being in a book world whenever we don’t see their previous life.
I’m thinking she was always Lillian and this is her second chance to be a better person.
