It’s cuz they weren’t aware of their father’s affair and theft or at least details of it. And the fact that shannet kept quiet and left without much of an explanation to anyone.
But in the current tl the twin is made aware of the entire situation and were given a proper choice. Good good.
The situation with the twins could maybe be clarified a bit more. After all, they are Schules, not Lombardi. Erasing the Schule name from the noble registry would affect them. Obviously Shannet would take care of them, but given this is a “historical” setting that takes lineage into account, their exact situation should be explained. Were they adopted into the Lombardi clan? Does that make them candidates for being a future head?
@Kian. If I’m not mistaken the twin is under the lombardi from the start. Since the lombardi is a much bigger and influential family, vestian married /into/ the lombardi rather than shannet into schule, precisely why the twin is taking the lessons with the other lombard kids. And the lombardi providing for the entire schule family.
It’s part of vestian’s insecurity, a greedy egoistic man being under his wife and her family, working for them and his kids taking her name rather than his and other things.
But in the previous tl shannet, feeling at fault not wanting to burden his already weak father, meekly stepped aside taking blame and so vestian as the father took the twin with him.
But yeah, as far as what I remember from the rather sketchy translation of the novel and spoilers at least.
