The whole trial is pretty ridiculous. The guy just shows up, and basically takes over the prosecution, and gives his own testimony.
It also doesn’t make sense how she was supposed to lie about having participated in the theft, when she wasn’t involved at all in the first place. The egg was planted for her to find. That the other lady didn’t confess shouldn’t have led to her being forced to incriminate herself.
There’s plenty of evidence, including the investigator’s own observation of the incomplete imprint caused by the partial imprinting on another. If she’d gone with the truth, that she’d gone into seclusion two years before for personal reasons, found the egg, and accidentaly imprinted, then there would be no reason to punish her in the first place. But because she claimed to have planned the robbery, they were able to blame her for everything that happened afterwards.
