This is something I absolutely despise with Asian culture. It’s just a fucking NAME! And your fucking MARRIED!! Can you possibly get any closer than that?! If you can’t speak each other’s name casually when your MARRIED then when the fuck can you?! I pray that Asians aren’t like this in real life. I truly hope they’re not. It isn’t endearing, it isn’t cute, it isn’t respectful. It’s fucking pathetic!
ZeroOnZero, why are you reading romance manga/manhua/manhwa if you despise the cultural aspect of courtship? For starters, not all Asian cultures do that. Secondly, Japan is a hierarchal society and you don’t causally call another person by their name without any honorifics. Only those within your family and very close friends circles could call you endearingly or without honorifics. And thirdly the characters are in an arranged marriage and are slowly getting used to one another and learning what it means to be a family. So changing the way one calls another shows progress in their relationship and how their perception changes.
And if you want to know what Asians use to call their spouses, do your research. Fiction and reality are never the same.
