She was the only one who treated him in any remote way like a human being with thoughts and feelings. Ian not condoning his actions but the afore mentioned reasons are quite a compelling reason for a person to turn out the way he did.
And yes female lead said he could leave and gave him items and his “contract bead’ to help him leave but who knows what other “conditioning” her scumbag father but him through before he got there.
