Idk if I’ve said this before but it really kind of irks me how she just basks in the dukes affection and attention while knowing full well that the ml is being mentally and physically abused. In the years that passed how little effort she made in bettering if not fixing their relationship. Cuz honestly nothing has changed.
I think she knows at this point no matter how hard she tries she can’t fix what was program into the Duke. She even resisted calling him father for so long because she wanted their relationship son and father to get better. Sadly she did try to include the Ml in dinners so that she could try and help them improve. Sometimes in life though broken things can’t be fixed, all she can do is be there for Ml and try to make his life better. Though the Duke is at all fault no matter what in this situation. It’s not like she can be rude and act like a brat when he tries to treat her like a daughter. If she did, it wouldn’t end well for her or ml
