??? I’ve been lost since the duel. They arent siblings, they are father in son. By just the order of nature Ain would eventually become Duke. Cassius can’t “replace ain’s position” unless he has another child and that child replaces him but even that’s unlikely due to such a large age difference as well as neither Ain or Cassius would submit roselias own child to the type of training ain had to do. The future Duke is Ain.
For @Goodandevy , my guess is that the current Duke is still young enough to be the Duke for plenty more years, which makes sense since usually the title of Duke doesn’t change until the previous one dies or becomes very old (rarely do they retire). So, people are thinking Ains is being impatient and trying to force becoming a Duke earlier than what’s considered natural. However, people also believe that even if Ains forces his way into being a Duke with one battle, Cassius would be capable enough to take it back since he’s still able-bodied, unless, of course, he’s disabled or killed by his son. That’s what the nobles are kind of hoping for, that the two would end up disabling each other (by death or by a house split or disability).
@AngieAllum so that sort of makes sense to me but like…..not in a larger picture kind of way. Is that something that happened to Cassius’ time too?? I mean if it’s that regular for a son to need to just kill dad to take over OR dad had to kill his son to maintain …why marry, why even have a child? Cassius didn’t have Ain with a woman he loved, he wasn’t an unplanned bastard with a maid, he wasn’t an oopsie. He was meticulously planned. As a man, Cassius could have easily had a child in his mid 40’s, have the energy to upkeep the training, and by 60 take an assumed retirement rather than have a child while he was young to constantly need to look over his shoulder. It just seems like a real leap in judgement to be like “hey dude, look out, your daddy is gonna outlive you and take your position” because quite frankly if daddy wanted to he could have legit just killed you as an infant. If there was a “oh he likes a girl dad doesn’t approve and now they fight for the role vs passing it to a distant cousin” that makes sense but this seems like such a stretch in logic
I am seriously waiting until they have another kid that will turn this shit upside down by making everyone start to see them from a different side (a good one of course)
