Tev is just speaking facts. he is only able to be a knight because of her, otherwise he’d probably be dead in a ditch somewhere. if he admits his feelings and they aren’t reciprocated, or worse it’s taken as an insult (because nobility and the help don’t mix) his rise to frbfr knighthood could end like that, or he’d get lucky and be placed under some other noble.
The only way they could have a chance at a relationship is if she initiates it and makes it clear, that regardless of how it works out, it wouldn’t affect his career and she wouldn’t ditch him as a knight.
the power imbalance is too insane for him to be flippant abour it. Not only is she nobility, but she’s also seen as a sort of saint/saviour to the regular folk….Tev proceed with caution or mourn and fall for someone else
