idk what there was to not understand. for one, she was comparing the way the commander was treating his soldiers (rude, often with violence, very demeaning) with the Korean military system (I’m sure some of you have heard of the 2 years required service over in SK). according to the novel, soldiers were only ever assigned a single role but were never taught how to be a functioning unit (probably due to this conditioning/training). with her knowledge in military tactics, she tells the commander that his violence isn’t necessary and she used her authority as future duchess to protect the soldiers, saying they will be the ones who will protect her. then she excuses him from the grounds
So what I got from her speech is that the there are different divisions (lets call it) in a military and there are also different leaders whose training methods are also different based on the leaders ways and the type of soldiers and divisions they’re in.
And the count and azar as their separate leaders has different ways and methods of doing things.
Azar trained them more as a free troop or I guess they’re comparable to mercenaries. The count on the other hand has a very organized and methodological troop like that of actual military in our world.
So she told him off because his way is deferring from their usual training of the duke’s soldiers.
Which I think does have a point, that’s like training/disciplining a boy scout in the ways of the army. I think.
