All this time it has been the fl’s point of view. I don’t think I’ve seen his point of view being told much until now. A lot of his life, his surroundings, what he has gone through, what his situation was are all still pretty much shrouded in mystery since his “past” was only ever revealed and told as the fl understood it.
It was all based only on her memories and what she knows and thinks happened.
But everyone already has a preconceived notion about him.
This is like a woman claiming neglect/abuse and since she is for a fact a woman support and understanding is readily there. Until she turns out to have her own flaws in the relationship. I’ve seen alot of this cases actually happen irl.
Mary you need to read the novel and go sit down somewhere. And it doesn’t change the fact he threw her out after sleeping with her. It ruined her life.
I know you folks love excusing MLs with a bad past. It does not negate she had her entire life ruined by him.
Authors love pushing the child angle “they need their fathers” but the father was wrong from the beginning. There is no his point of view. She has every right to be cautious of him.
You really hold onto this sleeping with her and divorce argument so tightly. It’s just so funny.
With a conniving duke, who has been actively trying to kill him since his childhood, arranged the marriage between them and him believing she was in on it too since she never made an effort to clear her name nor her feelings to the ml. He is not some psychic mind reader, how was he supposed to know.
He had to keep up with the farce of their marriage and keep his life until he can find the chance to divorce her. Who knew his chance would come the next day when his father suddenly died?
It ruined her life? What about the duke ruining the ml’s life, since childhood may I add. That’s years upon years of torment TO A MERE CHILD.
And before you come at me that she has nothing to do with it, AGAIN, she never made that clear to him or anyone for that matter. She just focused on herself and her fantasy and desire to be the perfect empress-to-be.
She could have told him she actually loved him when he brought up the divorce but she didn’t.
They’re both at fault for not saying anything but why is it that he is the one solely at fault?
It’s the way you all are shoving all fault and responsibility onto him. Just cuz his side of the story was never divulged anywhere. And you all are taking the fl’s word as the one and only truth.
There is many sides to the story and the fact that his remains untold and this story mostly being told from the fl’s pov makes you all just look hilariously shallow to me.
So YOU GO SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE.
Mary please… sit and read the novel. It won’t justify all his hostility towards her even when they were engaged. Ik he’s all nice now, but does that easily unweighted what the fl felt have been through while living with him, thrown by him, raising her child and coming back there? Your perspective is yours, but the story is the author’s.
