Ok i fully read the chapter this time so now i can think of a theory that makes more sense and probably other people thougt off. So baron sacrifices himself but in order for the children to go back in time aswell they needed to somewhat merge lucy being the main body and mind and unfortunately rael being a distant memory thats only left is emotion of the dead child that he unfortunately probably is
Wait the sage’s name and Rael’s name is the same since his whole name is “Raelgo” but Cassia calls him “Rael”. Maybe rael saved his mother by the wish from his father? Or did he do it on his own free will cuz he saw how miserable his father was when Cassia died.

This is what I’m thinking, somehow time has been turned back more than once. One of those lives is not remembered by Cassia. In the other time line she had another son who is Raelgo which I believe is an alternate existence for the red haired Rael we know. Which is why he was asking if he and Rael could exist at the same time. If they do share the same soul then it is impossible.
Also I believe Cassia is pregnant right now. That could be the key to Raelgo’s existence.
