She spends more time in each chapter with Helios and then just has these stupid over the top reactions with Kael and then tries to push him away every. single. fucking. time. and every time Helios calls for her she goes running to him. and her plans to ruin Diana are so backlogged on the plot now its just fodder at this point. Kael has express many times he doesnt give a fuck about them anymore but she wont fucking listen. Kael has been trying to get closer to her ALL FUCKING SEASON, and there is no fucking progress just a half ass kiss than she like somersaulted away from? this is so boring now.
man if you guys hate it so much then why stay ? it’s been 84 chapters so I get you probably forgot but this isnt a simple “Oh my favorite character got heartbroken and abandoned cyz he’s the 2ML.” he COMMITTED SUICIDE in HER HOME after several- multiple- GOSSIPED AND PUBLICIZED suicide attempts. he wrote a sad and crude letter apologizing and promising compensation to her before killing himself. right when she felt the littlest bit of energy to try and help him despite suffering herself. and then she got ill. I’ll enough to seek out a temple that didn’t want to treat people who couldn’t pay- that got that way BECAUSE Diana turned into a stuck up bitch. she died to her illness in front of the temple, with no one and nothing. and now, with her “foresight” borne from living and dying her 2ND LIFE might I add (this is an isekai), she “sees black” at the end of her visions because that’s literally what happened- she blacked out because she succumbed to death. she could very well fear that she’ll still get sick and die (because newsflash: Diana is still a stuck up bitch and the temple is greedy- no fucking way she’ll get healed rn- not without hurting Diana’s position and shaking down the temples). and she acknowledges Kael’s feelings. but she can’t return them.
giving him the duke title, helping him find his own position – they’re all to give him something to work for, to believe in- even when she’s gone. she doesn’t want to give her entire heart to a man she does indeed love, but more importantly, wants to see happy. her own future is unknown- THATS why she’s acting like this and doing all this.
this is more than a simple “I could give him better” plot. this is an “I don’t want him to find a reason to kill himself, even after I’ve died. I want him to be happy and secure” plot
this slow burn is meant to show real growth. politics plays a heavy role in this kind of plot. kael loved diana enough to end his own life when she chose to antagonize him over all he’s done for her. if he were to suddenly love hestia, that’d be weird. if hestia were to suddenly reciprocate kael’s feelings (even though they technically are but she can’t indulge) then it would make *her own* plot meaningless (death at the hands of a corrupt church). then it would make the church and diana’s corruption meaningless. then her marriage to helios. then the entire plot.
I’ve read the novel. it’ll be worth it to see the moment she can let go and be secure in her life and her love and she and kael will have the most wonderful, peaceful life. but she can’t *just* get there.
in her mind, if she doesn’t reciprocate Kael’s feelings, then she can’t lead him on. the force of his love is strong enough to bet a life- if she were to die to disease, we don’t know if he’ll fall apart and kill himself again. and that’s why the soap business, the duchy, reinstatement as a politician, forging powerful international ties will give him enough reason to keep going with or without her
