Great decision but I don’t think Astaire will surely hurt Kayla even she is on the empress side cause she knows empress more than anyone ……so I think she will take for Astaire side ??️??️
Stories where the love interests are suppose to end up with a male but because the female Mc steps in, the love interests fall in love with the female MC (and vice versa, her brother who kinda falls for the love interests, albeit unwillingly) are so interesting. Because it means the story is saying one of these two things:
1. Love is so fluid that their romantic interest can trump their sexuality
2. The author is implying that men would not date men if given a viable female option
I guess we could operate under the assumption that all the love interests were bi but tbh i don’t think the author thinks about the implication of a MC entering a BL and suddenly making it almost a harem fight for her affections
The author IS definitely implying your first point. Correct me if im wrong but, the reason why Ritaus were so damn obsessed with Franz is because of the sword. (And let’s say it was not because of that, then it is because of his looks because Ritaus soon shifts his interest to FL and once commented on how similar they looked). Astair went mad and kidnapped Franz only because he is obsessed with Ritaus (romantically or not, Ritaus was his only leaning shoulder and Franz is a nuisance). FL was killed also because she is Ritaus’ fiancee (regardless of Ritaus loving her or not). Marian was also killed off (im assuming) for trying to help Franz, and Franz was too broken to the point of feeling unworthy and ashamed to be with her. In the OG story, throughout all this who stayed and tried to help Franz? RITAUS. I think in the OG novel, only Ritaus who is actually in love, which is why when our FL came in, neither Franz nor Astair had grown love emotions towards Ritaus yet (only he did towards Franz). It was mentioned once with Altair wanting to marry Ritaus but soon the interest went away when he shuts Astair down and tells him he’s a boy. And Nothing about Franz liking Ritaus. Then there’s also FL’s past life motivating her current actions, being given another chance to protect your loved ones. FL’s new actions changed the biggest trigger, Astair’s attention is no longer to Ritaus but is shifted to her now.
My conclusion as well as what i truly believe, you can choose to “love” (or hate) someone if only you open/let your heart do that (under whatever circumstances, whether willingly or unwillingly). And its easier to open your heart when there only a few if not one person who is caring and nice to you during your darkest time, when you have no one else.
