How has he abused her exactly? She perceives his words the worst possible way, but that is because of her own self-perception rather than anything he has actually done to her. When he asks her opinion she think it’s to mock her, but he never actually mocked her, he listens.
He doesn’t coddle her but instead expects her to act according to her position. He knows she is worthy of far more than life has given her, and so he put her in a position where she can put her skills to use.
She had intended to arrange a political marriage for her sister to save her house, on the assumption that no one of enough status would be willing to marry her. That drove her sister to run away from home. She can hardly complain about being in the same position herself, and she got the best possible husband one could expect from a political marriage.
agree with Kian too. as far as his antics go, I don’t at really see malice. I see a smart man making sure his wife is not just intelligent to stand up for herself, but one who makes sure she exercises this. she’s a very giving person and, let’s be honest, not particularly special in terms of looks (she’s gorgeous, I promise, but she’s also got relatively plain features). but it’s fact that she is unbelievably beautiful the more she exhibits her capabilities and he’s framing her to show it off more. he’s testing her, not for himself but for her to artfully maneuver him AND high society

She said at the beginning that she is happy, but no, it doesn’t go with his definition of happiness and is constantly pushing her to do more, not because she wants or needs it but because her life in his eyes was wrong. When there were rumours about him cheating on her he never tried to clarify the situation or explain himself, he was looking forward to seeing her miserable. He is the one to put her in difficult situations just to be the saviour but at the end of the day he is the one who started all of it. If you still believe that he loves her truthfully I advise you to go back and read it from the beginning because he was never the man of feelings and each of his actions are calculated. And btw fl didn’t try to marry her sister for money or to save their family, it was because her sister was about to make mistakes with that man who most probably only wanted money and title, in a chapter she even said that count was a good man, so if she really wanted more power she would just arrange a marriage with an old man with money.
