I think the punishment was a little bit too harsh…imagine that you are a painter and someone cuts off your hands for wanting to paint them in a different art style. While I do agree that the high priest should get a punishment and learn the way of his errors, I don’t think this was exactly the right way to do it. They have hurt him in a way thT he won’t be able to recover from until his moves on, which I doubt he can do without his connection to God…
Great punishment she inflicted on the priest. And i loved the ML’s moment of self reflection and his conclusion that he should have more confident. They are precious!

Honestly I feel like although it was quite harsh the chance of redemption he was given will truly help him as a human and not just a priest. Having a godly connection is good and all, but what’s the point of that when you use that place yourself on a self-righteous pedestal where you believe that you know what’s best for everyone. This is a chance for him to reflect on his humanity and learn to listen to other people and respecting their decisions.
I don’t believe it’s harsh because he used his connection to try and spread discord between the MCs. They don’t deserve that. We already see they are subject to unjust rumors. The Grand Duke has been hurt saving the world but he has a bad reputation. They saved the world by killing beasts but no one knows they are responsible for saving them and were subject to more lies and rumors.
And she said she would restore the connection anyways. If anything the priest could have been killed. In the words of Sir Lil Jon, “don’t start no $h!t, won’t be no $h!t!”
@FLOOF do you not see the irony in your statement? She did to him what he was trying to do to her. The punishment was poetic justice. And he still has a chance to redeem himself and regain his connection if he reflects properly. He was arrogant. And prideful. For someone like that, unless they reach rock bottom they will never be able to understand. Only by experiencing the same suffering can they comprehend how their actions were wrong and harmful. So no, the punishment was not too harsh. The punishment fit the sin perfectly.
